Jessica Lang Nowinski received a bachelor's degree from Barnard College and a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from Stanford University (CV - PDF). While at Stanford she worked with Gordon Bower on issues of bias and interference in memory, and conducted her dissertation research on possible inhibition mechanisms related to forgetting. She came to NASA Ames as a post-doc with Key Dismukes in 1999, and was hired by NASA as a research psychologist the following year.

Jessica is currently working on theoretical and practical aspects of prospective memory (memory for intentions), especially as they relate to cockpit and ATC operations. Her work has included developing a theoretical framework for prospective memory, basic laboratory studies on factors influencing prospective memory, and analysis of ASRS reports.
