NASA’s Scalable Traffic Management for Emergency Response Operations (STEReO) project was featured on the latest edition of NASA Television’s “TW@N: This Week @NASA”
(May 18, 2020)
The STEReO project, led by the Human System’s Integration Division’s Airspace Operations Lab (AOL), was featured on “This Week @NASA” . Every year, natural disasters such as wildfires, hurricanes and earthquakes cause billions of dollars in damage and substantial loss of life. The current disaster response infrastructure requires extensive collaboration across multiple organizations. As disaster response agencies begin to adopt new technologies, such as drones, to assist with this process, new challenges have arisen. NASA is hoping to mitigate these challenges and improve the flow of information to enable a more effective response to these devastating events. STEReO brings together several technologies in Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Traffic Management (UTM), Autonomy, Communications, Human Factors, and Domain Expertise & Tools to improve the effectiveness of emergency operations, ultimately saving lives and minimizing financial loss.
