The Airspace Operations Lab supports the Follow On Flight Test for National Campaign
(Jan 19, 2022)
For two weeks, on November 5th -10th, and December 6th - 10th, 2021 members of NASA Ames' Airspace Operations Laboratory (AOL) representing the National Campaign (NC) subproject supported the Follow On Flight Test (FOFT) at NASA Armstrong. The primary goals of this flight test were to test vehicle performance characteristics and airspace systems using a live helicopter flight, and to monitor the airspace data from the Mobile Operations Facility (MOF) using visualization displays.

AOL researchers supported the flights on-site from the MOF at Armstrong, the AOL Operations Center at Ames, and remotely using software designed to track incoming ADS-B positions coming from the test vehicle, and to track the vehicle's conformance to operational volumes by time and location. Event markers were also used to record vehicle state changes. The team was able to verify data exchanges between key airspace subsystems and were able to visualize this exchange on situation awareness displays.
