This work is in support of the System-Wide Safety Project (SWS) Technical Challenge 2 (TC2) co-led out of Langley Research Center (D320) and Ames Research Center (Intelligent Systems and Human Systems Integration Divisions). The goal of this work is to develop additional services within prototype air traffic management systems that will organize, enable and protect future airspace concepts that support safety and encompass higher levels of automation - for example, small unmanned aircraft system (sUAS) operations, that take place in low-altitude uncontrolled airspace, and urban air mobility (UAM) operations, that will take place over urban areas. The product of this research will be the informed requirements needed for any system builder (e.g., data providers) to implement a component of these traffic management systems that provide additional information to flight crews and operators to increase the safety and efficiency of their operations.
The Supplemental Data Service Provider-Consolidation Dashboard (SDSP-CD) provides an interface through which SDSP services functions and capabilities can be run by users, and the results presented to them. The SDSP-CD draws on services developed at NASA to summarize data and alert at set thresholds for parameters such as proximity to ground structures and battery prognostics. The interface offers two levels of information. At the higher, dashboard, level an overview of the status of all the services is presented – the user can see if any of the services have met a risk threshold and alerted. The second level, if available, drills down into the selected services to offer more detail about identified hazards relative to the underlying data.
